Privacy Policy
Clock is an alarm, world clock, timer and stopwatch app for Android. This policy explains what the app stores on your device, what information is collected automatically by the services it uses, and the choices you have. We do not ask you to create an account.
1. In short
- Your alarms, timers, world clocks and settings stay on your device. We do not receive them.
- Clock does not access your contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera. It uses your approximate location only if you allow it for an optional feature such as the weather card.
- Clock shows ads (Google AdMob) and uses Google Firebase to measure usage, find crashes and change settings remotely. These services can process your advertising ID and basic device and usage data.
- An optional after-call screen can notice that a phone call ended and how long it lasted. It never reads phone numbers, contacts, call logs or audio.
- Optional features (home-screen mode, weather card, after-call screen) are off until you choose them. Home-screen mode and the weather card are not available on every install: they are switched on only for some installs (see “Install attribution” in section 3). When home-screen mode is used, Clock reads the list of apps installed on your device to show them; that list is never sent anywhere.
- You can remove ads with a purchase, reset your advertising ID, or uninstall the app at any time.
2. Information stored on your device
The following is saved only on your device so the app can work, and is not sent to us:
- Alarms (time, repeat days, label, sound, vibration and snooze choices) and timers.
- Stopwatch state and the world-clock cities you choose.
- App preferences such as theme, language and whether you finished the first-run screens.
- Local counters and timestamps used to decide when to show a prompt or an ad (for example how many times you opened the app).
- If you use Clock as your home screen: your home-screen and app-drawer settings, the order and hiding of apps, your app shortcuts, the apps you opened most recently from the drawer, and the last weather result (kept for about 30 minutes).
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this.
3. Information collected automatically by third-party services
Clock includes software from Google. These services may collect the information described, under Google’s own terms and privacy policies:
| Service | What it is used for | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Showing banner, native, interstitial, app-open and rewarded ads | Advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, ad interactions, approximate location derived from the IP address |
| Firebase Analytics | Understanding which features are used and measuring ad performance | App instance ID, advertising ID, device model and OS version, language, screens viewed, events such as ad shown or clicked |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Finding and fixing crashes | Crash reports, device model and OS version, app version, app state at the time of the crash, an installation identifier |
| Firebase Performance Monitoring | Measuring start-up and network speed | Timings, device and network type, app version |
| Firebase Remote Config | Changing app behaviour (such as ad frequency and which first-run screens appear) without a new release | App instance ID, app version, language, country |
| Google Play Install Referrer | Learning which campaign led to an install, so settings can be tuned and optional features switched on for campaign installs | Referrer string supplied by Google Play (campaign source and medium). Used once, to classify the install. |
| Open-Meteo (weather card, optional) | Current weather and air quality on the tools page of the optional home-screen mode (not available on every install) | Your approximate coordinates rounded to two decimals (about 1 km), your IP address and standard request data. No account, advertising ID or other identifier is sent. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com. |
| Android location and geocoding services (weather card, optional) | Finding your approximate position and the name of your city | Handled by your device and its location provider under their own privacy policies. Clock does not store your location. |
| Google Play Billing | Processing the optional ad-free purchase | Purchase status. Payment details are handled by Google Play and are never visible to us. |
Install attribution. When you install the app from Google Play we read the install referrer, which tells us which campaign or source led to the install (for example a Google Play campaign or an advertising click identifier). We use it once, to measure marketing performance and, for installs that came from a paid campaign, to switch on the app’s extended set of optional features for those installs (such as the home-screen mode and the weather card described in this policy). It does not identify you personally.

4. How information is used
- To run the alarm, timer, stopwatch and world-clock features you ask for.
- To show ads and to measure whether they work, which keeps the app free.
- To detect crashes and improve reliability and speed.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used and to adjust app settings remotely.
- To confirm an ad-free purchase.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it to build profiles for any purpose other than those listed above.
5. Permissions the app uses
| Permission | Why Clock needs it |
|---|---|
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Show alarm and timer notifications, and upcoming-alarm reminders. Optional, but alarms may not be visible without it. You can change it any time in system settings. |
USE_EXACT_ALARM | Ring alarms at the exact time you set. |
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT | Show the ringing alarm over the lock screen. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Restore your alarms after the phone restarts. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK | Keep the alarm sound playing while it rings. |
VIBRATE, WAKE_LOCK | Vibrate and wake the screen when an alarm rings. |
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Load ads, Remote Config and Google services. |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Let Google ad services read the advertising ID. You can reset or delete it in Android settings. |
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION | Optional. Approximate location for the weather card in the optional home-screen mode (not available on every install). Asked only when you tap “Allow location”; the rest of the app works without it. |
| Home app role (not a permission) | Optional and not available on every install. If you choose Clock as your home app in the Android system dialog, Clock shows your home screen, app list and tools. You can switch back in Android settings at any time. Clock’s own icon stays in your other launcher’s app list. |
Visibility of installed apps (queries) | Used only by the optional home-screen mode, to list the apps you can open. The list stays on your device and is not sent to us or to anyone else. |
READ_PHONE_STATE, SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE | Optional after-call screen (see section 6). Asked through a prompt you can decline; the app works fully without it. |
6. Optional after-call screen
If you enable it, Clock can show a small screen with shortcuts to your alarms, timers and clocks after a phone call ends. To do this it listens only for the phone’s call state (idle or in a call) to notice when a call has finished and how long it lasted, and it displays over other apps. It does not read phone numbers, contacts, call history, messages or audio, and the call duration is not stored or sent anywhere. The feature is off until you grant the permissions, and you can switch it off in the app or revoke the permissions in system settings at any time.
7. Home screen (launcher) mode
Home-screen (launcher) mode is optional and is not available on every install: it is switched on only for some installs (for example installs that came from a campaign, see section 3). Where it is available, Clock can be your home screen if you choose it. In that mode the app reads, on your device only, the names and icons of the apps you have installed, so it can show them on the home screen, in the app drawer and in the dock. It remembers on the device which apps you opened from the drawer (for the “recent apps” row), the shortcuts you add, and the apps you hide. It does not record how you use other apps and does not send your app list or this information to us. Ads may appear when you open another app from the home screen or return to Clock; see section 3 for the services involved. The optional weather card sends your approximate location to Open-Meteo as described above.
8. Sharing and disclosure
We do not share personal information with anyone except the service providers listed in section 3, which process it on our behalf or under their own terms. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety or the security of the app.
9. Retention and deletion
Data on your device is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. The weather result is replaced after about 30 minutes. Data held by Google services and Open-Meteo is retained according to their own schedules (for example, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is kept for a limited time and then deleted). Because Clock has no accounts and we cannot identify you from the data we hold, we usually cannot look up or delete an individual’s records; resetting your advertising ID and uninstalling the app severs the link between you and data previously sent. To ask about data, write to the address in section 14.
10. Your choices and rights
- Advertising ID: in Android, go to Settings → Privacy → Ads to reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation.
- Permissions: change or revoke any permission, including location, in Settings → Apps → Clock → Permissions.
- Ad-free: purchase the ad-free option in the app to stop ads.
- Uninstall: removes all data stored on your device.
- Your rights: depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK or California) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, to object to processing, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Contact us to make a request and we will respond as required by law.
The app does not currently show its own consent form for ads; if you are in a region that requires one, use your device’s ad settings above, or contact us.
11. Security
Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security. Data sent to Google services is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
Clock is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will help to have it removed.
13. Links to other sites
Ads and in-app links may open other websites or apps that we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the effective date at the top shows the latest version, and material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
